A colorful mix of California native plants and other drought-tolerant Mediterranean species complement the bold blue home and Bougainvillea hedge. A beautiful new paver and Mexican beach pebble patio adds interest and functionality to the far-back corner. Vegetable beds were added to grow dwarf fruit trees and herbs.

Near the driveway, a hugelkulture mound captures rainwater. Buried within the mound are the removed non-native plants, returning carbon to the soil.
