This home in the hills of Encino was revitalized by swapping a dying lawn for a vibrant pollinator garden. Plants with bright, bold colors create an almost tropical feel, but without the high water bill! The design showcases how lush summer-dry gardens can be; this is a far cry from the cactus xeriscape that many imagine when they hear “drought-tolerant.” The sumptuous color palette plays perfectly against the muted house colors, and balances the large building size with the smallish garden.

Additional improvements include adding a dry creek to collect rain, replacing the artificial turf strips with gorgeous stone pavers, installing Mexican beach pebbles and decomposed granite, and constructing wood benches around new concrete planters.
